Purveyors of bush baches and rustic retreats, Off Grid Design will take your ideas and craft them into reality. Born out of the Nile Valley in Charleston NZ, we’re no stranger to off grid life.
With 30 years of experimentation behind us we design unique escapes for clients throughout NZ regularly providing our laid back style of service to the West Coast, Nelson, Tasman and Hurunui districts, infiltrating as far North as Warkworth. Aficionados of everything from earth, strawbale and hempcrete homes to more traditional grid tied archetypes, we’ve covered most of it.

Ritchie Wildermoth
As a long standing member of EBANZ (Earth Building Association of NZ) Ritchie spent his formative years assisting in the construction of adobe earth buildings, after which he built his own Off Grid Cabin on the West Coast of the South Island – from here establishing Off Grid Design seemed the obvious next step.
His down to earth approach and genuine passion for creating alternative buildings has led to lasting relationships with clients, consultants and builders across a diverse range of projects.
